When it comes to remodeling and renovation the process is indeed simpler and less stressful than when you first built your first swimming pool. You’re here because you’re searching for a swimming pool upgrade and searching for additional ideas to make your backyard into what it used to be when the new swimming pool was first built.
To make you feel at ease, our founder, Eloy, has been in the industry since 1978 and since then he has been building and remodeling top level pools for the homeowners of the Pacific Palisades and other LA areas. In the sections below, we will display some of the swimming pool projects built from scratch and other swilling pool remodels.
The process of remodeling is going to be a lot shorter to complete.
Are you experiencing problems with your current swimming pool? We will explain in detail how you can check for remodeling signs.
Or on the other hand, you feel like it is time to upgrade into the beautiful backyard oasis you once had built back in the day. Whichever the reason, I will go ahead and provide you our remodeling options, common upgrades, our remodeling process, and some FAQs.
Swimming pool leakage is extremely common, in particular if your pool was built 20 to 30 years ago. The equipment and material will deteriorate over time for regular use. If you’re seeing your swimming pool lose water faster than the average quarter inch per day, most likely there is a leakage.
Here are other common ways to check if your swimming pool is leaking; water level changes, cracks or falling tile, wet spots in the yard, water under equipment, or algae growth.
Having outdated pumps, plumbing or filters will be easily spotted. Think about the plumbing as the circulatory system for the pool.
This one is our favorite. It’s exciting to help our clients update their outdated style for the first time in a while. Here’s a swimming pool remodel Moderno Pools completed. Watch the video as we explain everything in detail about the updated styles and features. (Move this lower)
Tile and light worn out happens due to normal wear and use. The lifespan of a swimming pool is between 20 to 30 years. Any time between these periods, your pool will start experiencing tile chips and light problems. Whenever the tile and light start to wear off it does ruin and interfere with the enjoyment of the backyard.
All of these upgrade features are amazing and will make the swimming pool remodel look at its best. Our favorite and the most requested by our clients, a spa area. Whatever upgrade or custom feature you add, it will indeed provide you a soothing and aesthetic look.
Adding a stand alone or attached spa area will be a great investment. Not only will the spa area enhance the aesthetic look, but the overall relaxation and enjoyment simultaneously.
Keep in mind that adding a stand alone spa will need its own structure near the pool, with its own filtration and heating system. On the other hand, if you decide to go with an attached spa, the swimming pool will share the same circulation and heating system which will be more cost effective than the separate spa.
If you’re thinking about changing the custom shape of your current swimming pool, you will be creating a one-of-a-kind pool that reflects your style and adds to your backyards aesthetics. Consider the functionality of your pool shape to fit your specific needs, if you’re planning on adding a shallow lounge area or a built in seating for relaxation.
When adding specific lighting to an existing pool there are certain logistics we consider such as the layout and design of the pool area. It is very common to add lighting to highlight the pool features such as waterfalls, steps, and spa areas.
Adding a custom waterfall will transform your backyard into a beautiful backyard oasis. Imagine listening to a gentle symphony of nature’s soothing sounds, this will bring you a true state of relaxation and tranquility.
The thrill and excitement for adding a pool slide for your family is priceless. Adding a pool slide during a remodeling project you will need to consider the slide placement to ensure there are safe entry and exit ways.
A swimming pool and a fire pit right next to each other is the perfect combination to bring a sense of coziness and warmth. For sure, this will be a year-round gathering sanctuary.
Adding an umbrella, whether Classic or Cantilever Venice, will add a practical shade and stylish aesthetic.
Here’s our remodeling guide that our team at Moderno Pools use. We are proud of our high standards in the swimming pool industry, focused on catering our remodeling process for each homeowner.
The first step is to drain the water from the pool as this step ensures safety and efficiency during the remodeling process. In addition, it allows us to conduct an in depth inspection of the pool’s structure and more. As safety is our priority, the water drained from the pool will be disposed of by following all of the local regulations. The drainage process will take between 6-12 hours depending upon the size and capacity of your pool.
After the pool is drained, we start the chipping process which involves the removal of your old surface to have a clean solid layer ready for the new material. Once the chipping process is over, the pool’s surface is prepped and ready to be primed.
Before applying the prime, we do another inspection to remove any leftover debris from the chipping process. The prime is evenly applied across the surface of the pool and left to dry for the tile and surface application.
The fun part begins. The tile installation will start to bring out the new look of your transformed swimming pool. The quality tiles from PebbleTec will resist the weathering and maintain the color under the sun for many years to come.
During the surface application, you will have the option to install whatever finishing materials you’d like such as plaster quartz, pebble finishes, along with other eco-friendly options. Once the surface application is completed, there is a specific amount of time needed to cure. This process can take a few days or even up to a week depending on your applied elements.
Your new remodeled pool comes back to life, as your new fresh water cascades in and brings your backyard oasis to life. It is important to monitor the refilling of your pool and crucial not to interrupt when the pool is completely full. Moderno Pools will ensure the process is completed correctly before your grand opening of your new swimming pool.
This is the last and final step of the remodeling process: the chemical add ons. Adding the specific chemicals are key to the longevity of your pool and the health of the pool’s ecosystem. Here are some of the primary chemicals we use; chlorine, pH balance, alkalinity increaser, calcium hardness increaser, stabilizer and more.
We hope this helps you picture the overall remodeling process of your swimming pool. Keep in mind that the information provided above is intended to focus on the process and not really to dive deep into personalized details.
